Iconoclast -- GOTHES
There are several different meanings for the term "goth." In pop
culture of the late 20th century, goth referred to a style of music and a
style of dress, involving dark clothing and dark attitudes. In the year
2100, goth means something else entirely. How the word is spelled, and
capitalized, makes a great deal of difference:
G.O.T.H.E. - "Genetically Optimized Thoroughbred Humanoid Experiment,"
created entirely from enhanced optimal DNA structures without egg or sperm.
Also referred to as "Alpha GOTHEs," since they were the first generation of
GOTHEs. Alpha GOTHEs stood between 7 and 10 feet tall, weighing nearly a
quarter-ton. They were reputed to: be as strong as 10 men; able to run at
more than 50 mph; have 4" long claws; possess immense mental telepathy and
superior intelligence; and be able to change shape at will. They are all
assumed dead, as most were killed in the GOTHE Wars. Their abilities have
seemingly increased as the stories about them spread and are "augmented" by
active imaginations. Some deny that they ever existed.
GOTH - Refers to any of the "Genetically Optimized Thoroughbred Humanoids,"
although most commonly used to refer to Beta GOTHs, the second generation of
the breed. Betas are smaller than Alphas, considerably less powerful and
considerably more sociable. Several still live in the year 2100, although
most have died of old age. This term also refers to all of the offspring of
the Alpha GOTHEs who bear some of the traits of their ancestors, including
Vampires, Shifters, Morphs, Daemons and Goths.
Goth/goth - Refers to the third generation of GOTHs, far less commonly
called "Gamma Goths." This third generation is entirely stable, can
reproduce amongst themselves in a stable fashion, and bear the most genetic
similarity to their original ancestors, the Alpha GOTHEs. "GOTH" is less a
phrase used to describe what the gamma generation is, and moreso a name for
an entirely new being; hence, no need for capitalization here.
